Almond up on rising demand, pistachio declines

Almond strengthened further by Rs 200 per 40 kg on the wholesale dry fruits market today on rising demand.

However, pistachio lacked necessary buying support and traded lower.

Traders said rising demand mainly pushed up almond prices.

Almond (California) remained in demand and added another Rs 200 to Rs 10,300 per 40 kg. Its kernel followed suit and traded higher by Rs 2 Rs 361-366 per kg.

On the other hand, pistachio Hairati and Peshwari met with resistance at prevailing levels and traded lower by Rs 10 each to Rs 1,050-1,175 and Rs 1,300-1,350 per kg, respectively.

Following are today's quotations in Rs per 40 kg:

Almond (California) Rs 10,300 Almond (gurbandi-new) Rs 4,950-5,150 almond (girdhi) Rs 2,700-2,800 and Abjosh Afghani Rs 7,000-20,000.

Almond kernel in per kg (California) Rs 361-366,almond kernel (gurbandi-new) (kg) Rs 325-425.
