Aluminium futures fell by 0.20 per cent to Rs 103.90 per kg today after speculators locked in gains at prevailing levels amid a weak trend overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange platform, aluminium for October delivery fell by 20 paise, or 0.20 per cent, to Rs 103.90 per kg, with a turnover of 10 lots.

Similarly, aluminium futures for November delivery also fell by 20 paise, or 0.15 per cent, to Rs 104.90 per kg, with a business volume of 10 lots.

Marketmen said the weakness in aluminium futures was mostly due to profit-booking by speculators motivated by a weak trend in base metals and appreciation of the US dollar, which put pressure on commodity prices.

Meanwhile, aluminum prices in London fell by 0.8 per cent to USD 2,345 per tonne.
