Aluminium futures inched up by Rs 0.35 to Rs 101.60 per kg today as traders enlarged their positions after strong cues from physical markets.

Weakness in base metals at the London Metal Exchange, however, restricted gains, analysts said.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, aluminium for delivery in August month rose by Rs 0.35 to Rs 101.60 per kg with a turnover in 2,804 lots.

The metal for delivery in September traded higher by Rs 0.20 to Rs 102.50 per kg with a turnover of 149 lots.

Market analysts attributed the rise in aluminium prices in futures trade to firm trend at the physical market on rising demand.

At the London Metal Exchange, aluminium fell 0.4 per cent to $2,196 a tonne.
