Equity funds continued to prosper at the cost of other mutual-fund categories. FMCG sectoral funds were the leaders as far as one-year returns were concerned at 66.96 per cent. Not far behind were diversified funds at 54.33 per cent returns.

Debt-oriented funds continued to lag behind with income fund returns amounting to 1.68 per cent for the past year. Hybrid funds like asset allocation funds and balanced funds put up a good show with 471.3 per cent and 34.69 per cent returns respectively.

The leading funds under the balanced category like SBI Magnum Balanced Fund and Tata Balanced Fund prospered on account of their higher exposure to equities.
