"Food safety and quality management is increasingly becoming important not only from the export point of view; the domestic consumers too have become aware and are demanding a better quality", said the Union Minister of State for Commerce Jairam Ramesh at the launch of the course.
The objective of the programme is to develop professionals for development, implementation and auditing of food safety and quality management for the food-processing sector in the country. It would help to develop India's capability to meet the global food safety and quality requirements, and enhance export potential and competitiveness of food products in the global market, said an APEDA release.
