April tea exports up 15.70%

India's tea exports in April were up 15.70 per cent to 11.42 million kilogram from a year ago, Tea Board officials said Wednesday.

The monetary value of tea exports in April was up 19.14 per cent to Rs 112 crore from a year ago, the official said.

January-April tea exports were up 7.62 per cent to 52.80 million kg from a year ago, the official said. The monetary value of January-April exports rose 7.76 per cent to Rs 458 crore from a year ago, he said.

India's tea production in April increased 3.75 per cent to 55.10 million kg from a year ago, the official said.

Production in January-April rose 17.70 per cent to 149.76 million kg from a year ago, he said.
