Ashok Leyland gains after December 2015 sales surge 31%

Shares of Ashok Leyland were up over 3% at Rs 92 on the Bombay Stock Exchange after the company announced that total sales in December 2015 rose 31% to 12,209 units.

Sales of Medium and Heavy Commerical Vehicles for December 2015 surged 35% to 9,758 units compared with 7,210 units in December 2014, the company said in a release.

Sales of Light Commercial Vehicles rose 18% to 2,451 units in December 2015 compared with 2,080 units in December 2014, the release added.

The stock opened at Rs 90 and touched a high of Rs 92. At 9:40am, over 3 million shares were traded on both the stock exchanges.
