Asian markets end firm; Hang Seng up 165pts

Asian stocks soared on Monday with Hang Seng returning back to levels which were last seen before the collapse of the Lehman Brothers as the enthusiastic investors rushed into equities following the good corporate results.

The Hang Seng advanced 165 points to 19,983.

The Nikkei added 151 points to 9,944.

The Shanghai Composite gained 44 points (1%) to  3,373 and the Straits Times moved up 42 points (2%) to 2,527.

The Seoul Composite was marginally up six points at 1,503 while the Taiwan Weighted index was down eight points at 6,973.

The Hang Seng has pared gains and is now up 92 points at 19.909. 

The Nikkei added 157 points to 9,950.

The Shanghai Composite and the Straits Timeshave advanced 22 points and 29 points to 3,351 and 2,514, respectively.

The Seoul Composite is flat at 1,501.

The Taiwan Weighted , however, has declined 23 points to 6,957.

Asian markets have continued yesterday's gains and are up this morning.

The Hang Seng has added 37 points to 19,854. The Nikkei has surged 149 points (1.5%) to 9,942.

The Straits Times has gained 27 points (1%) at 2,512. The Taiwan Weighted, the Seoul Composite and the Shanghai Composite have also moved up.
