Asian markets end higher

Asian markets have extended gains. The Hang Seng surged 265 points to 20,534 and the Nikkei jumped 272 points to 10,306.
 
The Seoul Composite gained 26 points to 1,627, Straits Times added 22 points at 2,781 and the Taiwan Weighted strengthened by 80 points at 7,441.

Shanghai Composite ended at 3,018, up 32 points.

Asian markets have extended gains. The Hang Seng has surged 359 points (1.7%) to 20,628. The Nikkei has jumped 256 points (2.5%) to 10,290.

The Seoul Composite gained 26 points (1.6%) to 1,627. The Straits Times is up 30 points (1%) at 2,789.

Asian markets have displayed strength in morning trades, taking cue from US peers. The Hang Seng has jumped 367 points (1.8%) to 20,635. The Nikkei has rallied 210 points (2%) to 10,245.

The Bank of Japan on Wednesday starts a two-day policy meeting at which the central bank is expected to keep interest rates very low and hold off on any new initiatives, as it expects Japan to avoid another recession.

The Seoul Composite has gained 23 points (1.5%) to 1,624. The Straits Times has added 28 points (1%) to 2,787.
