Taking a cue from the developments in the US markets overnight, the Asian indices have opened in the red.
Hang Seng is quoting at 22,943, weaker by 64 points or 0.2% and the Nikkei has opened at 9,932, lower by five points or 0.05%. The Japanese index has inched lower on Wednesday, after falling nearly 2 percent the previous day when China stocks tumbled on a liquidity squeeze. Market players said they were looking again to Chinese equities for direction.
On the other hand, Jakarta Composite and Taiwan Weighted is trading up 1% each.Seoul Composite too has added 0.4% to trade at 1,913.
