Asian markets remain weak

The Hang Seng has declined 182 points or 1% to 20,440. The Nikkei has slipped 170 points or 2% to 10,183.

The Shanghai Composite Index has added 18 points at 3,000.

The Straits Times, the Seoul Composite Index and the Taiwan Weighted Index are down 0.5% each.

The Asian markets have opened soft, taking cues from their US counterparts.

The Hang Seng is quoting at 20,454, weaker by 168 points or 0.8% and the Nikkei is at 10,163, lower by 188 points or 1.8%.

Straits Times is at 2,756, weaker by 25 points or 0.9%,  Seoul Composite is at 1,611, lower by 17 points or 1% and  Taiwan Weighted is at 7,556, down 41 points or 0.5%.

Shanghai Composite is flat at 2,983.
