Asian markets update: No recovery, still down 3-6%

There are no signs of recovery in Asian markets so far.

The Nikkei ended with a loss of 5% (415 points) at 8,023. The Hang Seng has plunged 5% (686 points) to 13,019.

The Taiwan Weighted index has tumbled 4.5% (201 points) to 4,321. The Straits Times index has slipped over 3% (55 points) to 1,710, and the Seoul Composite index has dropped 6% (71 points) to 1,111.

The Shanghai Composite index, however, is up seven points at 1,937.
