India extended the ban on imports of milk and milk products from China for another six months, the Director General of Foreign Trade notified on Thursday.
“The central government hereby further extends the prohibition on import of milk and milk products including chocolates and chocolate products and candies, confectionery, food preparations with milk or milk solids as an ingredient, from China, for a period of six months from December 24 and until further order,” the notification said.
In December last year, the government had prohibited import of dairy products from China following reports of contamination in milk in China. China had earlier sought lifting of the ban.
