Barley prices weakened by Rs 18.80 to Rs 1,200 per quintal in futures trading today on aggressive selling by traders, tracking poor spot market sentiment.
Marketmen said heavy selling in tandem with lower spot market cues and poor offtake by beer and cattle feed makers led to a fall in barley futures prices.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, barley futures prices for December-month contract delivery at Jaipur tumbled by Rs 18.80 or 1.54 per cent to Rs 1,200 per quintal, with an open interest of 3,820 lots.
March contract also followed suit and fell by Rs 19 or 1.69 per cent to Rs 1,107 per quintal, with an open interest of 210 lots.
