Barley futures fall further on renew selling

Barley prices fell by Rs 6.60 to Rs 1,100 per quintal in futures trading today on continuous selling by traders in line with a weak spot market sentiment.

Market analysts said increased supply from producing regions because of the ongoing crops harvesting, influenced the barley prices at the futures trade here.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, barley price for delivery in April moved down by Rs 6.60, or 0.60%, to Rs 1,100 per quintal, with an open interest of 4,450 lots.

Likewise, barley prices for delivery in June dropped by Rs 6.20, or 0.53%, to Rs 1,155 per quintal, with an open interest of 150 lots.

Barley futures price for delivery in May too shed Rs 4.20, or 0.37%, to Rs 1,127 per quintal, with a business turnover of 4,610 lots.
