Barley prices improved by Rs 7.20, or 0.61 per cent, to Rs 1,178.80 per quintal in futures trading today on fresh buying by traders at prevailing lower levels.
Marketmen said, better buying by traders in tandem with pick up in demand and short supply at spot markets influenced the barley futures prices.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, barley prices for September contract delivery rose by Rs 7.20, or 0.61 per cent, to Rs 1,178.80 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,170 lots.
Current July-month contract also gained Rs 2, or 0.18 per cent to Rs 1,137 per quintal, with an open interest of 13,910 lots.
