Barley futures prices improved by Rs 12.80 to Rs 1,189 per quintal today, as traders increased their holdings in line with a firm spot market sentiment.
Traders said restricted supply against pick-up in demand in physical markets mainly led the rise here in futures prices of barley.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, barley price for January contract increased by Rs 12.80, or 1.09%, to Rs 1,189 per quintal, with an open interest of 160 lots.
Prices for December contract moved up by Rs 8.80, or 0.76%, to Rs 1,159.40 per quintal, clocking an open interest of 2,000 lots.
