Barley prices increased by Rs 3.20 or 0.27 per cent to Rs 1,172 a quintal in futures trade today on sustained buying by speculators in the spot market.
Restricted arrivals in the physical market also influenced the trading sentiment.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, barley for September contract gained Rs 3.20, or 0.27 per cent, to Rs 1,172 per quintal, with an open interest of 26 lots.
The commodity for delivery in July contract also traded higher by Rs 2.60, or 0.23 per cent, to Rs 1,135 per quintal, with a business turnover of 238 lots.
Marketmen said sustained buying by speculators against restricted supply in the physical market led to a rise in barley prices at futures trade.
