Barley prices rose in futures trade today by Rs 41.50 to Rs 1,682.50 per quintal, as traders enlarged their holdings tacking demand cues from the spot market.
Marketmen said restricted supply and strong demand from beer and cattle-feed making industries in spot markets mainly influenced the trading sentiment in futures trade today.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, barley prices for near June contract shot up by
Rs 41.50, or 2.53%, to Rs 1,682.50 per quintal, with an open interest of 13,850 lots.
Most active May contract jumped up by Rs 39, or 2.43% to Rs 1,643.50 per quintal, with an open interest of 31,630 lots.
