Barley prices improved by Rs 12.80 or 1.13 per cent to Rs 1,143 per quintal in futures trade today on fresh buying by traders.
Marketmen said short covering by traders, put barley prices on upward side.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, barley prices for September-month contract regained Rs 12.80 or 1.13 per cent to Rs 1,143 per quintal, with an open interest of 50 lots.
Current June-month contract delivery also rose Rs 1.20 or 0.11 per cent to Rs 1,099 per quintal, with an open interest of 7,160 lots.
