Barley gained Rs 23 to Rs 1,742.50 per quintal in futures trading today following speculators creating fresh positions at lower levels.
Marketmen said after two days of sell-off speculators preferred to create fresh positions at existing lower levels.
Pick-up in demand at physical markets too influenced trading sentiments to some extent, they said.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, barley for delivery in April regained by Rs 23, or 1.34%, to Rs 1,742.50 per quintal, with an open interest of 5,090 lots.
The May contract recovered by Rs 18, or 1.03%, to Rs 1,763 per quintal, showing an open interest of 31,640 lots.
