Base metal declines on stockists selling

Base metal prices declined at the the non-ferrous metal market here today due to fresh selling from stockists, triggered by bearish overseas sentiment.

Trading sentiment suddenly turned weak in the domestic market after stockists resorted to selling, mirroring weakening trend at the London Metal Exchange (LME), traders said.

Nickel dropped by Rs 10 per kilo to Rs 1,120 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 1,130 and copper scrap heavy by Rs 8 per kilo to Rs 356 as against Rs 364 previously.

Copper cable scrap and copper wire bar, both dipped by Rs 7 per kilo to Rs 361 and Rs 389, respectively.

Copper armiture slipped by Rs 6 per kilo to Rs 353. Tin, brass sheets cutting, copper sheets cutting and copper utensils scrap, all fell by Rs 5 per kilo each to Rs 940, Rs 262, Rs 353 and Rs 340, respectively.

Brass utensils scrap moved down by Rs 3 per kilo to Rs 254. Zinc also softened by a rupee per kilo to Rs 107.
