Base metals decline on global cues

Most of the base metals declined at the non-ferrous metal market here today due to selling pressure from stockists amidst lowering trend in London Metal Exchange (LME).

In London, LME turned bearish on worries over hardening of China interest rate resulting reduction of metals demand.

Nickel prices slumped by RS 20 per kg to Rs 1,200 from overnight closing level of Rs 1,220 and Tin dropped by Rs 15 per kg to Rs 1,405 as against Rs 1,420 previously.

Copper utensils scrap dipped by Rs 7 per kg to Rs 403, copper sheet cutting by Rs 6 per kg to Rs 423 and copper armiture by Rs 5 per kg to Rs 429. Brass sheet cutting edged down by Rs 2 per kg to Rs 307.     

Copper cable scrap, copper wire bar and zinc all softened by rupee per kg each to Rs 448, Rs 476 and Rs 133, respectively.

However, lead inched up by a rupee per kg to Rs 117.
