Base metals firm up on higher industrial demand

Most of the base metal prices firmed up at the non-ferrous metal market here on fresh industrial demand amid bullishness in London Metal Exchange (LME).

Meanwhile, lead prices eased on lower offtake from consumer industries.

Nickel and lead both rose by Rs 5 per kilo each to Rs 1,140 and Rs 1,325 from overnight closing level of Rs 1,135 and Rs 1,320.

Copper armiture gained by Rs 3 per kilo to Rs 379 as against Rs 376 yesterday.

Copper cable scrap, copper scrap heavy, copper utensils scrap, copper wire bar, copper sheet cuttings and zinc all moved up by Rs 2 per kilo each to Rs 395, Rs 387, Rs 356, Rs 423, Rs 375 and Rs 126. 

Brass utensils scrap also inched up by a rupee per kilo to Rs 262. However, Lead prices softened by a rupee per kilo to Rs 111 from Rs 112.
