Supported by firming trend at the London Metal Exchange (LME) and pick up in industrial demand, copper and nickel strengthened up to Rs 10 per kg on the wholesale non-ferrous metal market today.

Sentiment turned better after copper and other base metals strengthened at the LME as dollar weakened, raising appeal of the commodities as alternative investments.

Meanwhile, copper for the three-month delivery gained 0.7 per cent to $8,366 a metric tonne, while nickle rose by 0.40 per cent to $23,640 per tonne at the LME.

In the national capital, copper wire scrap, copper wire bar and copper mixed scrap were up by Rs 3 each to Rs 431, Rs 450 and Rs 411 per kg, respectively.

Nickel plate 4x4 traded Rs 10 higher at Rs 985-987 per kg.
