Black pepper prices firmed up at the spices market here today due to persistent demand from exporters coupled with higher retail offtake.

Limited arrivals from key growing regions also aided the uptrend. Elsewhere, copra edible Mumbai and copra office Alapuzha prices recovered sharply on the back of fresh buying by stockists and traders.

Other spices ruled steady. Black pepper rose by Rs 2/6 per kilo to Rs 211/223 from yesterday's closing level of Rs 205/221.

Copra Rajapur Mumbai regained Rs 150 per quintal to Rs 5,900 from Rs 5,750 and copra office Alapuzha also went up by Rs 50 per quintal to Rs 3,775 as against Rs 3,725 previously.
