Black pepper prices spurted at the spices market here today on the back of persistent buying by stockists and retailers amid rising export demand.
Meanwhile, copra Kozhikode and copra edible dropped owing to sluggish demand as well as lower offtake from millers.
Black pepper shot up further by Rs 7/12 per kg to Rs 313/335 from its overnight closing level of Rs 306/323.
However, copra office Kozhikode and copra edible Mumbai both slid by Rs 100 per quintal to Rs 6,200 and Rs 7,700 respectively, as compared to Rs 6,300 and Rs 7,800 yesterday.
Rest all other spices closed stable in the absence of any market-moving factors.
