BPCL gains on talk of Bina oil refinery expansion

The company plans to expand Bina refinery in Madhya Pradesh by 30% to 156,000 barrels

Shares of Bharat Petroleum Corporation were up 2% at Rs 899 on reports that the company plans to expand capacity of its Bina oil refinery.

The company plans to expand capacity of its Bina oil refinery by 30% to 156,000 barrels per day at a cost of about $472 million, Reuters said in a report quoting BPCL chairman S Varadarajan.

Oman Oil, which has minority stake in Bina oil refinery, is not participating in the Rs 3,000 crore expansion as of now, Varadarajan said, the report added.

The stock opened at Rs 883 and touched a high of Rs 901. At 12:30PM, over 950,000 shares were traded on both the stock exchanges.
