After a negative opening, the Sensex slipped furthur to touch an intra-day low of 18,946 and continues to hover around the same. The index is currently down 69 points at 18,977 and the Nifty shed 18 points at 5,692. In the broader markets, the midcap is up 0.5% nad the smallcap gained 0.6% outperforming the benchmark index which is in the negative, down 0.4%
Among the sectoral indices, Oil & Gas, Consumer Durables up 0.5% are teh top gainers followed by Power, Realty and Auto. However, IT index has slipped 1% and is at the bottom of the chart along with Metal, Bankex and Health Care.
Reliance Communications, Mahindra & Mahindra, RIL, Reliance Infrastructure, Bajaj Auto and BHEL up 1% each are the top gainers on the Sensex.
Wipro down 3%, HDFC, Sterlite, Bharti Airtel, Jindal Steel, Infosys, HDFC Bank, ONGC and Maruti Suzuki down 1% each are the noteable losers.
Market breadth is positive. 1494 stocks has advanced while 902 has declined
