As the Sensex saw a lacklustre week the IT index outperformed the broader index with gains of 2% at 5,338 as compared to the previous week's close of 5,228.
Patni Computers was the top gainer on the IT index, up 6% at 520. It was followed by TCS which added 5% to Rs 796 and Wipro advanced 3% to Rs 686, respectively.
Financial Technology and the Infosys were advanced 1-3% each to Rs 1,569 and Rs 2,672, respectively.
NIIT Technology and Moser Baer were the major darggers on the index, down 4% each.
The other losers were Aptech, Tech Mahindra and Oracle Financial Services declined 1-3% each.
