The Bombay Stock Exchange today launched 'BSE Power Index', which would track the stock performance of companies that are in the business of generation, transmission, distribution of electricity, companies providing power infrastructure, and manufacturers of equipments required for power generation. |
There are 14 constituents in the Power Index and the top five weighted stocks in the index are Bharat Heavy Electricals (22.15), NTPC (13.76), Reliance Energy (13.70), Suzlon Energy (8.81), Tata Power (8.36) and ABB (7.68). |

The BSE Power Index is the 13th sectoral index on BSE, after BSE Auto, BSE Bankex, BSE Capital Goods, BSE FMCG, BSE PSU, BSE IT, BSE Teck, and BSE Realty, among others. |

On its debut day, the BSE Power Index ended marginally lower, down 0.19 percent, or 8.44 points, to 4,395.76. |
