BSE Midcap & Smallcap indices hit 52-week low

BSE Midcap, Smallcap index hit 52-week low

Shares of midcap and smallcap companies are under pressure with the S&P BSE Midcap and S&P BSE Smallcap indices hitting their respective 52-week lows in an intra-day trade today.

At 12:54 PM, BSE Smallcap index was down 2.3% at 10,042 and Midcap index by 1.3% at 9,884 as compared to 1.2% fall in the S&P BSE Sensex, which is also trading at its lowest level since May 2014.

Oriental Bank of Commerce, Alstom T&D India, Tata Global Beverages, 3M India and Bank of India from the midcap space fell more than 5% each on the BSE. Jet Airways, Orbit Exports, Nahar Spinning Mills, SRS, Grauer & Weil (India), Titagarh Wagons and Saurashtra Cements were down over 9% each.

Around 14 stocks from midcap and 128 stocks from smallcap hit their respective 52-week lows. The list includes Suzlon Energy, Wockhardt, Unitech, Castrol India, IDBI Bank, Dewan Housing Finance and CESC.

Among the sectoral indices, Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), Auto, Bankex, Capital Goods, Power and Realty have touched 52-week lows on the BSE in an intra-day trade.
