 "BSE smallcap index hits fresh 52-week high")
The S&P BSE Smallcap index hit a fresh 52-week high on back of strong rally in fertiliser, auto ancillaries, constructions and textile stocks on Wednesday.
At 03:08 pm, the S&P BSE Smallcap index was up 0.65% at 13,365, as compared to 0.17% rise in S&P BSE Midcap and 0.13% decline in the benchmark S&P BSE Sensex.
The small-cap index hit a fresh week high of 13,384 in intra-day trade, surpassing its previous high of 13,381 hit on October 6, 2016.
Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilisers, Chambal Fertilisers & Chemicals, Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers & Chemicals (GNFC), Deepak Fertilisers & Petrochemicals Corporation, Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers (RCF), Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals (GSFC) and Zuari Agro Chemicals from the fertiliser up more than 6% each.
Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilisers locked in upper circuit of 20% at Rs 63.35 after the company posted net profit of Rs 15.35 crore for the quarter ended September 2016, against net loss of Rs 19.43 crore in year ago quarter.
Chambal Fertilisers & Chemicals surged 11% to Rs 64.50 after the company said its promoter, The Hindustan Times increased stake in the company through open market purchase.
“On October 13, Hindustan Times bought 100,000 shares representing 0.02% stake in the company via open market,” Chambal Fertilisers & Chemicals said in a statement.
ABG Shipyard too frozen upper circuit of 20% at Rs 40.25 after the company said it is exploring the possibility for strategic investors so as to improve the company’s financial and operational strength. For this purpose, the company has appointed Rothschild as the investment banker, it added.
Igarashi Motors India, Sundram Fasteners, Ramco Industries, Ratnamani Metals & Tubes, Kitex Garments and Sunil Hitech Engineers are among few up more than 5% each on BSE.
Around 53 stocks from the S&P BSE Smallcap index hit a 52-week highs, of these 34 stocks touch their respective record highs on BSE.
