Budget Impact: Sensex down 300pts

The Sensex has slipped deeper into red as the Interim Budget did not announce any major changes. The index is now down 294 points at 9,340.

Reliance Infrastructure has slumped 5.5% to Rs 538. Reliance Communications and DLF have plunged over 5% each to Rs 172 and Rs 152, respectively.

Jaiprakash Associates, ICICI Bank, Reliance and Sterlite have tumbled over 4% each to Rs 72, Rs 416, Rs 1,333 and Rs 264, respectively.

SBI has shed 3.7% at Rs 1,150. Mahindra & Mahindra and Ranbaxy have slipped nearly 3.5% each to Rs 310 and Rs 205, respectively.

BHEL, HDFC Bank, Wipro, Tata Steel and Bharti Airtel are down around 3% each.

The market breadth is negative - out of 2,164 stocks traded so far, 1,313 have declined, 775 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
