Saskatchewan, a province of Canada that currently exports peas, chick peas and lentils to India, has invited Indians to invest there to meet the demand for agricultural commodities in India.

The province currently holds major potential in agricultural commodities, in addition to gold and diamond mining. Total bilateral trade between two regions perked up to C$564 million in 2007 from C$189 million in 2004.

“We are not immune to the effects of the current global economic climate, but the fact remains that the province has resources that India needs, including potash to increase crop yields and high-protein pulse crops,” said Lyle Steward, Minister for Enterprise and Innovation, government of Saskatchewan.
