Natco Pharma went up nearly 20 per cent to close at Rs 58.70 on Friday which was also the high for the day.
The scrip opened at Rs 52.65 and recorded a volume of nearly 45,000 shares on the BSE. On the NSE more than 2 lakh shares changed hands.
The rally was on account of reports that the company has launched an anti-cancer drug which is available at cheaper price when compared to its imported versions.

The company's shares have participated in the broader rally in pharmaceutical scrips recently.
The scrip's valuations are also being seen as attractive to warrant inclusion in their portfolio by investors. The company has also stepped up its thrust on exports.
In the last month-and-a half the share price has jumped more than 100 per cent.
