Cardamom prices fell by Rs 6.90 to Rs 978.10 per kg in futures trade today, due to adequate stocks and higher supplies.

Prices fell further as traders booked profits at prevailindg levels, on subdued demand for the commodity.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom contract for January shed Rs 6.90, or 0.70 per cent, to Rs 978.10 per kg, with a business turnover of 172 lots.

The February contract eased by Rs 5.60, or 0.54 per cent, to Rs 1,017 per kg, with a trading volume of 332 lots.

Marketmen said the fall in cardamom prices at futures trade was due to adequate stocks in the spot markets, increased supplies from producing regions and subdued demand.
