Cardamom prices fell by Rs 13.80, to Rs 1,123.60 per kg, in futures trade today as speculators preferred to book profits, buoyed by subdued spot demand.
Increased arrivals from the producing regions also put pressure on the cardamom futures prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for June contract declined by Rs 13.80, or 1.21%, to Rs 1,123.60 per kg, with a business turnover of 15 lots.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in April eased by Rs 12.40, or 1.11%, to Rs 1,101.20 per kg, with a trading volume of 150 lots.
Cardamom prices for delivery in May moved down by Rs 12.30, or 1.08%, to Rs 1,122.60 per kg, with an open interest of 44 lots.
Market analysts said, besides profit taking by speculators at existing higher prices, fall in domestic demand put pressure on cardamom futures prices.
