Cardamom prices fell by Rs 35.40 to Rs 1,292 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits at prevailing higher levels, driven by subdued demand in the spot market.
Adequate stock availability in the physical market also put pressure on cardamom futures.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in May shed Rs 35.40, or 2.66% to Rs 1,292 per kg in a business turnover of 189 lots.
The April contract lost Rs 24.10, or 2.04%, to Rs 1,155 per kg with trading volume of 472 lots.
Market analysts said speculators booking profits at prevailing higher levels, subdued demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position mainly kept pressure on the cardamom prices at futures trade.
