Cardamom prices fell nearly 4% to Rs 606.70 per kg in futures trading today as speculators engaged in reducing exposures amid a weak trend at spot market on sluggish demand.

Besides, adequate stocks in the physical market on higher arrivals from producing regions also kept pressure on cardamom.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom prices for delivery in July fell by Rs 25.20 or 3.99%, to Rs 606.70 per kg in business turnover of 56 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in August traded lower by Rs 2.80 or 0.37% to Rs 755.60 per kg in 867 lots.

Market analysts said off-loading of positions by speculators on sluggish demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position mainly influenced cardamom prices at futures trade.
