Cardamom prices declined by Rs 4.40 to Rs 873 per kg in future trade today as speculators indulged in booking profits, driven by a fall in demand in the spot market at prevailing higher levels.
Fresh arrivals in the spot market from producing belts also put pressure on cardamom prices in futures trade.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in August declined by Rs 4.40, or 0.50%, to Rs 873 with a business turnover of 86 lots.
Similarly, the spice for July contract delivery shed Rs 2.30, or 0.27%, to Rs 838.50 in 110 lots.
Analysts said apart from profit-booking by speculators, a fall in demand at prevailing levels in the spot market led to the decline in cardamom futures prices.
