Cardamom futures down on profit-booking

Cardamom prices fell by Rs 48.20, or 3.15 per cent, to Rs 1,483 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits after recent gains.

Adequate stocks at the physical market following increased arrival from producing belts also put pressure on cardamom prices at the futures market here.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for August month fell by Rs 48.20, or 3.15 per cent, to Rs 1,483 per kg with an open interest of 1,422 lots. 

Similarly, spices for delivery in September month dropped by Rs 44.80, or 3.35 per cent, to Rs 1,293 per kg in 1,624 lots. 

Analysts said profit-booking by traders after recent gains, fall in demand at the spot market at existing higher level manly attributed to the fall in cardamom prices in the futures trade.
