Cardamom prices fell by Rs 17.80, or 1.50 per cent, to Rs 1,172 per kg in futures trade today, as speculators booked profits, driven by weak demand in the spot market.
Increased arrivals from the producing regions also influenced the trading sentiment.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange platform, cardamom for November-month fell by Rs 17.80, or 1.50 per cent, to Rs 1,172 per kg, with an open interest of 797 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in September declined by Rs 13.10, or 0.99 per cent, to Rs 1,308.40 per kg, with an open volume of 2,311 lots.
Analysts said profit booking by speculators due to fall in demand in spot markets at existing higher levels, against increased arrivals from producing regions markets led to a fall in cardamom prices in futures trade.
