Cardamom prices declined by Rs 9.10 to Rs 1,121.10 per kg in futures trading today as speculators booked profits at existing higher levels, driven by sluggish demand in the spot market.
Fresh arrivals in the physical market from producing belts also put some pressure on cardamom futures prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in May declined by Rs 9.10, or 0.81%, to Rs 1,121.10 per kg, with a business turnover of eight lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in April lost Rs 7.30, or 0.64%, to Rs 1,142 per kg, with an open interest of two lots.
Analysts said besides profit-taking by speculators, fall in demand against fresh arrivals in the physical market led to a decline in cardamom futures prices.
