Cardamom prices fell by Rs 24.90 to Rs 1,478.60 per kg in futures trading today, as speculators preferred to book profits, driven by subdued demand in the spot market.

Adequate stocks position and increased arrivals from producing region also put pressure on cardamom prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for February fell by Rs 24.90, or 1.66 per cent, to Rs 1478.60 per kg, with a business volume of single lot.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in March lost Rs 23, or 1.48 per cent to Rs 1,529 per kg, with a business volume of one lot.

Marketmen said beside profit taking by speculators, fall in demand in the spot market pulled down the cardamom prices at futures trade.
