Cardamom prices fell by Rs 23.30 to Rs 946.50 per kg in futures trade today owing to sluggish demand at existing higher levels.
Fresh arrivals in the spot market from producing belts also put pressure on the cardamom prices at the futures trade.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange cardamom for delivery in June fell by Rs 23.30, or 2.40% to Rs 946.50 per kg, with a business turnover of 129 lots. The spice for delivery in May shed Rs 20.80, or 2.20% at Rs 920.90 per kg, with a business turnover of 205 lots.
Similarly, cardamom for delivery in July moved down by Rs 9.40, or 1.98% to Rs 959.10 per kg, with an open interest of 45 lots.
Analysts said fall in demand at existing higher levels against fresh arrivals in the physical market mainly led to a fall in cardamom prices at futures trade.
