Cardamom prices tumbled by Rs 51, or 2.97 per cent, to Rs 1,667.90 per kg in futures trade today, as speculators booked profits at existing higher levels.
Increased arrivals at spot markets from the producing belts also put pressure on cardamom prices in futures trade.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange platform, cardamom for July-month contract fell by Rs 51, or 2.97 per cent, to Rs 1,667.90 per kg, with an open interest of 1,362 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in August contract moved down by Rs 49.10, or 3 per cent, to Rs 1,587.10, with an open interest of 1,072 lots.
Analysts said profit taking by speculators at existing higher levels led to a fall in cardamom prices in futures trade.
