Cardamom futures prices fell by Rs 20.70 to Rs 850.50 per kg today, as speculators booked profits at higher levels amid sluggish demand in the spot market.

Increased arrivals from producing regions also put pressure on cardamom futures prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, cardamom for January delivery fell by Rs 20.70, or 2.38 per cent, to Rs 850.50 per kg, with a business volume of just one lot.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in November declined by Rs 18.20, or 2.02 per cent, to Rs 885.00 per kg, with a business turnover of two lots.

Market analysts said profit bookings by speculators at existing higher levels due to fall in demand in the spot market, mainly pulled down cardamom futures prices.
