Cardamom prices rose by Rs 6.70 to Rs 885.90 per kg in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions on the back of pick-up in spot market demand against restricted arrivals.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in October gained Rs 6.70, or 0.7%, to Rs 885.90 per kg, with a business turnover of 21 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in July edged up by Rs 2.50, or 0.30%, to Rs 836.50 per kg, with an open interest of 402 lots.
Market analysts said fresh buying by speculators on pick-up in demand in the spot market against limited arrivals from producing regions mainly led to the rise in cardamom futures prices.
