Continuing its winning-streak on the back of strong spot demand, cardamom today again hit the upper circuit by 4 per cent or Rs 71.40 to Rs 1,857.60 per kg in futures trade today.

Tight stocks in physical markets followed by fall in supplies from the producing belts continued to influence the cardamom prices at futures market here.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, cardamom for June contract surged by Rs 71.40 or 4 per cent to hit the upper limit at Rs 1,857.60 per kg, with a turnover of 956 lots.

Similarly, the delivery in July, August and September contract also spurted by 4 per cent (upper circuit) each to Rs 1679.30, Rs 1,1628.10 and Rs 1,557.60 per kg, respectively.

Market analysts attributed the current rally in cardamom futures prices to strong demand in physical markets amid low stocks.
